The Kentucky Core Academic Standards website brings together a range of information and resources related to the implementation of Senate Bill 1 (2009). This functional website is designed to provide periodic updates regarding the online modules as far as it is included in articles, statewide workshops and campus activities for postsecondary faculty, staff, administrators.

Senate Bill 1, passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in 2009, calls for higher and more rigorous learning standards to ensure more Kentuckians graduate from high school ready for college or career, and for collaboration among postsecondary institutions to accomplish this goal. This website presents timely information on the progress and opportunities related to Senate Bill 1 (2009) activities.

Senate Bill 1 (2009) Information Webinar & Workshop – the webinar and workshops were collaboratively developed with the objective to share information about implementing the common core standards, discuss changes in assessment and accountability, and to highlight the significance for postsecondary education with academic content and college of education faculty and administrators from Kentucky’s public and private colleges and universities.

The webinar will be held August 12th from 1:30—3:30pm. Prior to the webinar participants will receive a link to Moodle so that they can review the information presented at the live workshops and begin the discussion around implications for postsecondary education. On the day of the webinar there will be a short presentation prior to participants joining breakout sessions to focus on discipline specific discussion.

The last regional information workshop will be held August 15th at the Cumberland Inn and Conference Center in Williamsburg, KY. The workshop will be held from 9am to 4pm and registration along with a continental breakfast begins at 8:15am. The workshop includes three general sessions that present information on Senate Bill 1 (2009), the Kentucky Core Academic Standards, and assessment and accountability, and three breakout sessions for teacher education, mathematics and English language arts and literacy.
